Homework Help

Help in the Library

If you need help finding information for a school project or homework assignment, the Library is the place to be.

We have lots of books, magazines, newspapers, atlases, dictionaries, maps; you name it, we've probably got it. And if we don't have it, we can find out who does. Visit the Information Desk for help.

Help on the Library's Website!

Electronic (Online) Databases

Electronic or Online Databases help you find information that has been published in books, magazines, newspapers, and other sources of information, without having to leave your computer. Great for school projects, and when you can't get to the Library!

You search almost the same way you would search the Internet in Google or Yahoo, and you get results you can count on.

You have to enter your library barcode to get in to most of the sites. That's the number on the bottom of your library card, without the spaces. You'd be amazed at some of the things you can find. There are encyclopedias, maps, pictures, e books, games, and more. You can look at old newspapers on the Pages of the Past database, and see what was in the Toronto Star newspaper 110 years ago! Why not see what was in the news the day you born?

Homework Help sites

There are so many websites out there that sometimes it's hard to tell if the information on them is any good. Just because it's on the web, doesn't mean it's true! Try looking at who created the site. For example, it's probably safe to assume that NASA's website is more reliable than Ricky's Page of Rocket Science.

Try these sites if you are looking for good, reliable information:

Homework Help – Math for grades 7 to 10. Find them on Facebook. Funded by the Province of Ontario and TVO.

Tool Kit - Library and Archives Canada

Scholastic - Homework Hub

National Geographic - Homework Help

Ask for Kids - Study help from the people who brought you Ask Jeeves

Kids Love to Learn - Internet resources for kids grades 3 to 6
