Interlibrary Loans
About Interlibrary Loans
The Interlibrary Loan System is a cooperative library resource sharing system that allows libraries to borrow material from other libraries on their patron's behalf. Interlibrary Loans may be arranged from libraries out-of-province and possibly from other countries.
Interlibrary Loan Service is available to patrons in good standing who hold a valid Orangeville Public Library card.
Requests may be placed at either library location, by visiting or calling the Information Desk. However, Interlibrary Loans are processed and available for pick-up only at the Mill Street location.
Most requests are filled within two to six weeks, but may take longer, depending on the request type; the location of the lending library; the speed with which the lending library processes the request, and the method of delivery used.
The loan period for Interlibrary Loans is four weeks, with no renewals. Reduced loan periods may apply if dictated by the lending library.
Occasionally, the lending library will indicate the material is for use in library only; patrons must use the material in the library and return it to the Information Desk before closing at the end of each day.
A fine of 20 cents per day, per item, is charged for overdue Interlibrary Loan materials. In addition, charges for damage or loss will be passed on to the borrower.
